Performance is formed from a basis of trust.
Trust doesn’t happen overnight and it does take effort to build trust in teams.
It takes vulnerability and genuineness in understanding each other.
Trust is built through growing meaningful relationships where genuine care and interest in each other’s thoughts, ideas and feedback is the driver towards greater success.
American management consultant Patrick Lencioni showcased in his 2002 book, ‘The Five Dysfunctions of a Team’ his Lencioni Trust Pyramid.
In his book, through the Lencioni Trust Pyramid, he highlighted that for a team to function effectively, it needs to move through five stages in order.
They are: Trust. Conflict. Commitment. Accountability, Results.
Trust, at the bottom of the pyramid, is the largest and therefore also the most important stage.
The more genuine the effort to build trust, the faster trust can be established, but it can never be taken for granted.
Think about the people in your life that you trust the most. It’s taken time to build that trust between you but once established, your understanding and trust in each other allows freedom in decision making and actions.
There’s no double checking.
Things happen organically, and quickly.
Trust equals speed.
High performing teams have speed, because they have trust.
How much trust do you have in your team right now?
Have a great day!
