How high performing teams weather the impending economic storm.

Purpose

We are about to face heavy economic headwinds across the globe.

Rising costs, rising inflation, supply chain issues, financial uncertainty, labour market challenges.

No business will be exempt from an impact.

So how do you prepare and minimise the impact for you and your team, and then accelerate out the other side?

No matter which business you are in, the next few years are going to be tough. They’re going to be tough on leaders in particular.

If you are waiting for the hard times to be a great leader, it’s already over for you.

You need to be leading your people every single day.

Leaders will face a multitude of challenges ahead.

The speed and manner in how they address those challenges will determine if they, their teams and their business will flourish or struggle.

At all times, teams need to eliminate all non-essential activity and focus on the key numbers that drive your business.

In hard times, this is even more important.

Leaders are going to have to make big calls, they are going to have to make a commitment to specific things.

So what are the key commitments you need to make for the best chance of thriving whilst others focus on surviving?

There are 6 Key Pillars of Commitment that need to be made.

They include, in order:

Key Pillar 1 – Disruptive Betterment (When)

Find the courage to ignite “Disruptive Betterment”. Make a deliberate decision to make change for the benefit of others. So when is the best time? Right now!

Key Pillar 2 – Purpose (Why)

Unearth your team’s ‘why’. The team’s true purpose of why you do, what you do, and who for. Increase team connection, efficiency and drive extra discretionary effort from all within it by having a clear purpose.

Key Pillar 3 – Brand (Who)

Be who you need to be to fulfil your purpose. Outline clearly the brand of your team, and those within it, to become a trusted resource for your customers, driving repeat business and growth.

Key Pillar 4 – Behaviours (How)

Learn how to drive your team brand. Outline agreed behaviours to ensure trust and accountability is built and maintained, increasing the speed of organisational outcomes and returns.

Key Pillar 5 – Story Telling (Where)

Know where to tell your story. Being clear in communicating who you are and what you do. Inspire others to join you and your team’s on your purpose. People want to be part of something bigger than themselves, let them know how to.

Key Pillar 6 – Outcomes (What)

Clarify what outcomes are your priority. Detail clear, concise outcomes that drive your organisational returns, removing the distractions that take away from your valuable time, profits and success.

Once commenced, the Key Pillars of Commitment provide a continuum for increased alignment, performance and success.

Keeping your commitments simple helps in maintaining discipline, so don’t overthink or over commit yourself or your team.

By discovering, outlining and living your commitments daily, you will find the focus, discretionary effort, fulfilment and success you are seeking.

Not only will you be well equipped to weather the impending global economic storm, you will build a stronger team for the future.

Have a great day!
