Over the last 20 years, sport was ‘what’ I did.
However in recent years, I realised it wasn’t ‘why’ I do what I do. Sport was just the vessel.
Don’t get me wrong, I’ve loved every bit of my career in sport, however like many, as time marches on, fulfilment was harder to find in my own career and life.
I began finding greater satisfaction in working with others and seeing them have individual and collective success, and not just in sport.
I began the task of embracing vulnerability (a bloody hard thing for me to do) and I sought guidance, counsel and wisdom from those whom I respected and admired about their careers and lives.
I started to investigate how some people had found great careers, businesses and lifestyles and they seemed very content and fulfilled. And I wanted that!
When I recently launched SPYRDZ Consulting, participation and sport consulting appeared the natural thing for me to do. I’ve had a successful career in sport administration and I know a lot about it.
However my real drive was my purpose.
My purpose is to help others find courage to own their lives.
This wasn’t about sport, although the experiences and lessons I learned in sport have been unique, valuable and a great foundation from which to launch.
I still do sports consultancy, I have a strong passion for it, but there’s more.
Most of the client conversations I have had lately have actually been about helping leaders and businesses (of many kinds) find their purpose.
Why? It’s because there are so many people out there seeking the same things:
- Personally: To find a more fulfilling life, to work and contribute to something greater than themselves and own their own lives. To unearth their purpose.
- Professionally: To have a high performing business or team and to attract and keep talented staff and loyal customers in a more flexible and consumer driven world. To unearth their business or team purpose and be guided by it.
There is a genuine change in how people want to live and work, and how business now operates and many are seeking solutions to those wants and challenges.
That’s what my Aligned Purpose Program is all about.
If you want to know more, download my free e-book “Making Purpose Your Business”.
It’s only 18 pages but it’s packed with all the successful strategies I have successfully implemented over the last 20 years.
I hope you enjoy it.
